CFL ANNOUNCES NATIONAL GAME DAY THEMES FOR 2019 SEASON

Thursday Night Football Concert Series and Family Day returns for 2019 CFL Season

TORONTO (May 1, 2019) – The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced the national league-wide game day themes in advance of the opening of single-game ticket sales to the general public today, May 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. local time in most CFL markets.

Following the success from last year’s game day themes, the highly anticipated Thursday Night Football Concert Series will be retuning to each CFL market this season in partnership with Universal Music Canada. A top artist will perform at each team’s first home Thursday night game, with each game’s acts to be announced at a later date. Last season saw each team host a halftime show and helped shape the new ‘Thursday Night Football’ property with TSN. Dates for each game are in the chart at the bottom of this release.

Family Day is back for the 2019 season in partnership with Family Channel.  Each team will host a Family Day where stars from Family Channel’s hit shows ‘The Next Step’ and ‘Backstage,’ including Isaiah Peck, Shelby Bain, Victoria Baldesarra and Josh Bogert, will attend games, tailgates and other activations to meet fans and perform. Select Family Day games will also see a special activation from American Ninja Warrior Junior. Fans will also be able to meet characters Chase and Skye from popular TV show PAW Patrol, as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Iron Man will join the stars to create a fun-filled family atmosphere. Dates for each team’s Family is listed below in the release.

“It’s important to find ways to add value to fan experience at our games and engage new audiences,” said Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer Tyler Mazereeuw. “The analytics show that national game day themes brought new fans to the stadium and we want to continue to build and grow by expanding on last year’s themes and the new initiatives we’re bringing this season.”

Details will be unveiled closer to the launch date of each initiative. Below is the CFL national game day theme schedule for 2019:
