CFL EXPANDS GLOBAL REACH WITH LIVESTREAMING OF 104th GREYCUP PLAYOFFS

Livestreaming now available in 150 countries

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today that it will offer fans around the world the opportunity to watch the 104th Grey Cup Playoffs and 104th Grey Cup presented by Shaw on CFL.ca. The service, powered by Yare Media, will be offered to fans outside the TSN/RDS and ESPN/BT broadcast territories for subscription and can be viewed on PCs, iOS, Android devices, and internet-enabled televisions.   

Fans will have the option of purchasing a complete five-game HD playoff package for $29.95 or the 104th Grey Cup Championship Game in HD for $9.95.

"Every year we evaluate strategies to help grow our brand internationally and look at ways to service the growing legion of CFL fans world-wide,” said Jeffrey L. Orridge, CFL Commissioner. “It is important to us that we bring fans a quality experience, and Yare Media will help us do that by allowing the games to be viewed on CFL.ca.”

“Not only do we think that expats and travelling Canadians will appreciate Grey Cup access outside of Canada, we also believe sports fans globally want to experience more Canadian football,” added David McConnell, Yare, SVP Sports. 

The 104th Grey Cup presented by Shaw will be played at BMO Field in Toronto on November 27th. This will be the first outdoor Grey Cup championship game in Toronto since 1982. The Eastern and Western Semi-Finals will be contested Sunday November 13th in Hamilton and Vancouver respectively, and the Eastern and Western Finals will be played Sunday November 20th in Ottawa and Calgary. All games will be delivered internationally for playback on large screen TVs via platform, transcoding, transaction and casting technologies provided by Yare.

With staff in Vancouver, Toronto and Europe, Yare offers a wide range of streaming and event monetization solutions to sports and entertainment organizations.

Additionally, the 104th Grey Cup will air live on ESPN2 in the United States, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. The game will also air live on ESPN+ in Brazil and on ESPN on BT Sport in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Grey Cup will be streamed live on WatchESPN and the ESPN app in the United States for fans with video subscriptions from affiliated providers. It will also be available live on the following authenticated digital broadband players: ESPN Play (all of Spanish-Speaking Latin America and the Caribbean), WatchESPN in the Pacific Rim and Brazil and BT’s digital broadband player (http://sport.bt.com/) in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
