CFL Football Now Available to Fans in UK and Ireland via BT Sport

TORONTO - Sports fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland will have the opportunity to watch CFL action live on television, the Canadian Football League announced today.

Sports broadcaster BT Sport's channels BT Sport 2 and ESPN on BT Sport will broadcast CFL games live starting with the season opener between the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Montreal Alouettes this Thursday, June 25. BT Sport will also broadcast CFL games on delay.

"This is a great opportunity to continue the Canadian Football League's reach not only in North America, but globally into the United Kingdom and Ireland," said CFL Commissioner Jeffrey L. Orridge.

BT Sport is available to more than 5 million homes across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Today's news follows a multi-territory agreement between the CFL and ESPN Inc for rights in multiple territories. BT Sport and ESPN enjoy a multi-year collaboration spanning the use of the ESPN brand, programming and other areas.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: "We are extremely pleased to expand our line-up of programming with the addition of the Canadian Football League. The CFL will enhance the content range across our channels including the recently renamed ESPN on BT Sport channel and will particularly bolster our impressive line-up of North America sports programming such as MLB, NBA and IndyCar."

Below is the CFL schedule through July across BT Sport. The remaining CFL schedule will be announced at a later date. (Note: as with all TV schedules, BT Sport TV listings run from 06:00 to 06:00).
