CFL GOES RED AND WHITE TO HONOUR CANADA DAY

Week 3 will feature teams sporting red and white New Era sideline apparel in honour of Canada Day

TORONTO (June 27, 2019) – Canadian Football League (CFL) and the international sports and lifestyle brand, New Era, unveiled today that for Week 3, each team playing will celebrate Canada’s holiday by wearing red and white sideline apparel for the games.

“Canada Day has always been a special date on the CFL calendar and this year we extend it for all of Week 3,” said Randy Ambrosie, CFL Commissioner. “Canadians coast-to-coast-to-coast will be proud to see our teams dressed in red and white to coincide with Canada’s 152nd year of confederation.”

Attached below are what coaches, team staff and trainers will be wearing during Week 3 of the season, which concludes on Canada Day with the Toronto Argonauts visiting the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 7 p.m. ET.

Official New Era Canada Day Sideline headwear and apparel will be available for purchase on team shops across the league this weekend in-store and online.

Teams will feature various in-game celebrations to showcase Canadian pride and unity. Saskatchewan will unveil the largest Canadian flag in sports, while Calgary is set for a series of fan appreciation events including a dueling piano halftime performance. Hamilton will host Canadian Armed Forces appreciation night before a post-game fireworks display, and Winnipeg will celebrate with a halftime show with Canadian country music duo, and the voice of Thursday Night Football, The Reklaws.

Canada Week will also feature the first TSN Live Mic game of the season during the Canada Day match-up between the Argonauts and Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium. Fans will be provided a field-level experience, and will be able to hear directly from each team’s quarterback and defensive leader, as well as take in communications between QB and coach. CFL on TSN will air 18 live mic games this season, including four featuring each CFL team.

The 2019 regular season is underway and fans can stay up-to-date on all the non-stop action at CFL.ca; follow the 2019 season from around the world and join us at a game. The 107th Grey Cup presented by Shaw will be played at McMahon Stadium in Calgary on Sunday, November 24.
