REVISED - MEDIA ADVISORY: OFFICIAL ARRIVAL OF THE GREY CUP

The Grey Cup will be welcomed to the Nation’s Capital at Parliament Hill and Rideau Hall

OTTAWA – The CFL will officially hand over the Grey Cup on Tuesday to the City of Ottawa and the 105th Grey Cup Festival Committee in Ottawa.

The Grey Cup will arrive on Parliament Hill in military transportation with Commissioner Randy Ambrosie and General Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence of the Canadian Armed Forces. The Commissioner will present the cup to Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Chief Kirby Whiteduck and Arlene Closter, Elder of the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nations. Participants from the CFL NFL Flag Football Championship will also be in attendance.

Following speeches, there will be a brief pause for a group photo. Then, the Grey Cup will depart for Rideau Hall in military transportation with Commissioner Ambrosie, where they will be met by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, the Governor General of Canada. Following speeches will be a media scrum and photo opportunity with the Grey Cup and the portraits of Earl Grey, ninth governor general of Canada (1904-1911) and Major-General the Right Honourable Georges-Philias Vanier, 19th governor general of Canada (1959-1967) who established the Grey Cup and the Vanier Cup, respectively.

Media attending the event at Rideau Hall must confirm their attendance in advance with Marie-Ève Létourneau (marie-eve.letourneau@gg.ca) at the Rideau Hall Press Office and arrive on site no later than 2:45 p.m.

Limited parking will be available on the grounds on a first-come, first-serve basis. Media can enter the grounds on foot through the entrance gates on Sussex Drive via Thomas or MacKay Streets.
