POST CONSUMER BRANDS BRINGS CANADIANS CLOSER TO THE CFL
CFL stars and teams shone on POST cereal boxes in 2016
TORONTO – Post Consumer Brands is helping thousands of Canadian children begin their day the right way; as part of their partnership with the Canadian Football League and in recognition of the 104th Grey Cup presented by Shaw, Post is donating 104,000 bowls of cereal to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success via Breakfast Club of Canada.
Through CFL branded cereal boxes and campaigns, Post is providing Canadians with the opportunity to get closer to the action while raising awareness in the fight against child hunger. “Our partnership with the CFL is a great way to fuel the future stars of tomorrow,” said Jennifer Hutchinson, General Manager, Post Consumer Brands. “We’re also proud of our association with local partners in helping tackle hunger so kids can focus on achieving their dreams”.
In July, Six Collector’s Edition Post CFL cereal boxes featuring CFL stars were on retailer shelves across Canada. “Being on a cereal box is pretty awesome,” said Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly, who was featured on boxes of Honey Roasted Honey Bunches of Oats. “I remember growing up as a kid and seeing superstar athletes on cereal boxes so when I got asked if I'd be interested in being on the Post cereal box, how do you say no?"
The program also gave 3 consumers a chance to Win the Ultimate Grey Cup experience. The lucky winners and their guests who will enjoy a once in a lifetime Grey Cup experience are: Maureen Baziuk from Winnipeg MB, Marilyn Gregory from Kelowna BC and Alisa D’Angelo from Fonthill ON.
Post and the CFL are back on retailer shelves this Fall with nine more Collector’s Edition boxes featuring CFL team jerseys and giving fans the chance to win one of 250 official CFL team jerseys. Boxes included Shreddies Original featuring the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Sugar Crisp featuring the BC Lions, and more.
Post is also excited to be continuing its collaboration with Breakfast Club of Canada by donating 104,000 bowls of cereal to serve children and youth in this year’s Grey Cup host city, Toronto.
“The players on the front of these special boxes represent the talent and potential of the CFL – and that same talent and potential is in every classroom and on every practice field in Canada,” said Jeffrey L. Orridge, CFL Commissioner. “The CFL and Post Foods are committed to ensuring that kids are fuelled to learn and do their best every day.”
“We are excited that the CFL and Post have joined together in the fight against student hunger. As a community we need to show our children that the way to success in life, begins through having success in school,” said Lisa Clowery, Vice President, National Corporate Relations, Breakfast Club of Canada. “Starting their day in a safe, inclusive environment, with a nourishing meal is an important part of that success equation. As supporters of student nutritional programs, the CFL and Post have shown children they care, will help them grow in their self-esteem and self-confidence, and send them on a brighter path to their future.”
