Harris, Williams and Sinopoli named Shaw CFL Top Performers
Wednesday, August 1, 2018 — TORONTO (August 1st, 2018) – Andrew Harris, D’Haquille “Duke” Williams and Brad Sinopoli were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Month for July of the CFL’s 2018 season.
Performer of the Month for July includes all appearances from Week 4 through Week 7.
The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
RB | ANDREW HARRIS | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS
Running back Andrew Harris had an outstanding July, with three consecutive games of 100+ rushing yards.
Harris, who is on pace for another 1000+ yard season, scored five touchdowns in four games in July (four rushing, one receiving). He leads the league in rushing yards with 638, and also leads the league in long runs, with four rushes of 20+ yards.
The nine-year CFL veteran led Winnipeg to three wins in July. He reached a career-best 177 cumulative offensive yards in Week 6’s contest against the Toronto Argonauts, scoring two touchdowns along the way.
The Winnipeg, MB native sits second on the all-time list of National running backs with 6,906 career rushing yards.
Harris was named a Shaw CFL Top Performer in Week 6.
WR | D’HAQUILLE WILLIAMS | EDMONTON ESKIMOS
D’haquille “Duke” Williams continued his standout sophomore season in July, earning 100+ yards in all three of his games last month. That makes five straight games of 100+ yards, and nine total in his CFL career.
Williams sits first overall in the CFL with 672 yards, on a blistering pace for over 2,000 yards this season. Those yards came on 35 receptions, the third-most in the league. He’s tied for most touchdowns so far this season at five.
He scored three touchdowns in July, including two in Edmonton’s Week 7 contest against the Montreal Alouettes.
This is Williams’ second appearance as a Player of the Month in 2018. In addition to his June accolade, he was previously named a Shaw CFL Top Performer in Week 5.
WR | BRAD SINOPOLI | OTTAWA REDBLACKS
Receiver Brad Sinopoli is on his way to a career year after a stellar outing in July. His two July 100+ receiving yard games give him nine for his career.
He is currently on pace for 1,104 receiving yards, which would be a new career best and his fourth consecutive season with 1000+ yards.
Sinopoli leads the league in receptions with 45 and yards after catch with 227, and sits second in receiving yards with 552. His pace for catches would take him to an Ottawa record 135 receptions which would also be the second-highest total in CFL history, ahead of Allen Pitts' 126 receptions in 1994.
The 2015 Most Outstanding Canadian scored his first two touchdowns of the 2018 season in July.
Sinopoli was a Shaw CFL Top Performer in Weeks 4 and 6.
