SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS – MARK’S LABOUR DAY WEEKEND

Dane Evans, Bralon Addison and Derel Walker named Shaw CFL Top Performers

TORONTO (September 4, 2019) – Dane Evans, Bralon Addison and Derel Walker were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 12 of the CFL’s 2019 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFGL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Ford of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | DANE EVANS | HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

In his first Mark’s Labour Day Weekend start, Dane Evans set new personal benchmarks across the board to lead the Tiger-Cats to a 38-27 comeback victory over Toronto at Tim Hortons Field.

Evans completed 31-of-37 passes (83.8%) for 442 yards, while tallying three total touchdowns (2 pass, 1 rush). In addition to new career-highs in completions and passing yards, the Tulsa product established a new personal best in rushing yards (42).

Evans opened the game by marching the Tiger-Cats down the field on a seven-play, 82-yard drive before capping the effort by running untouched for a 10-yard score.

With his home side trailing 24-14 in the third quarter, Evans connected with Bralon Addison for a 5-yard touchdown strike to cut into the Argonauts’ advantage. After clawing their way back to hold a slim one-point lead in the final quarter, Evans found Addison again for a 17-yard major to break away from the visitors.

On the season, the Sanger, Texas, native has completed 66.3% of his passes for 1,591 yards and a total of 10 touchdowns (7 pass, 3 rush) in seven games (five starts).

WR | BRALON ADDISON | HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

Like his quarterback, Bralon Addison had a career outing in the Labour Day Classic.

The Oregon product brought down 11 passes for 167 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions while adding 23 rushing yards. It was the seventh 100+ yard game of his career and his fourth this season. Both of his touchdowns came in the second half to help fuel Hamilton’s come-from-behind win.

Addison was Evans’ most targeted player on the day and he came up clutch with four second down conversions.

This season, Addison leads the league with 66 receptions, is tied for third in touchdown catches (five) and sits sixth with 740 receiving yards.

WR | DEREL WALKER | TORONTO ARGONAUTS

Toronto Argonauts receiver Derel Walker notched his first-career 200+ receiving yard game in the Labour Day Classic by matching his season-high of nine receptions en route to 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

After their provincial rivals went up 8-0 on the opening possession of the game, the Argos immediately responded with McLeod Bethel-Thompson finding a streaking Walker down the sideline for a 96-yard touchdown.

The Toronto quarterback connected again with Walker for another score in the second quarter, this time from 24 yards out, to give Toronto a 20-11 lead. The performance marked Walker’s 18th game with 100+ yards across 49 career starts.

The Texas A&M alum is fourth in receiving yards (807) on 47 catches and has five touchdown receptions this season.
