SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS OF WEEK 1

Harris, Fuller and Willy lead the way in the opening week

TORONTO – Trevor Harris, Jeff Fuller and Drew Willy were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for the opening week of the 2015 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges including former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | Trevor Harris | Toronto Argonauts

In Harris’ second career start not only did he lead the Argonauts to a 26-11 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos, but came close to setting a team record in the process. After completing 24 of 27 passes (88.9 passing percentage) Harris tied for second place on the all-time Argonaut list for passing percentage in a single game.

Harris completed the ball efficiently, but he also surpassed the 300-yard passing mark (347 yards passing), threw three touchdowns in the process and had zero turnovers in the game at Fort McMurray.

The Waldo, Ohio native threw three majors to three different receivers: Brandon Whitaker for a catch and run 57-yard touchdown, Vidal Hazelton for a three-yard touchdown and Tori Gurley for a 17-yard touchdown in the opening game.

Harris, a former Edinboro University Fighting Scot holds several major career team records including passing yards (11,899 yards), completions (966) and touchdowns (100).

WR | Jeff Fuller | Calgary Stampeders

Entering his third season in the Canadian Football League, Fuller began his campaign on a great note in the Stampeders’ 24-23 home opening win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In a rematch of the 102nd Grey Cup, Fuller recorded nine receptions for 148 yards, both career-highs for the Palo Alto, California native.

The former Texas A&M Aggie caught five passes over eleven yards and none as important as his game-saving reception on a third-and-18 situation to continue the last minute drive. His down-to-the-wire play ultimately set up Rene Paredes with the 50-yard game winning field goal at the buzzer.

At Texas A&M, Fuller holds the record for career touchdowns with 34 and is second with 3,092 receiving yards and second with 233 career receptions.

QB | Drew Willy | Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Drew Willy helped lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a 30-26 victory in Regina for the first time since 2004.

In the game, Willy completed 88 per cent of his passes (22-for-25) and notched his seventh career 300 yard passing game by passing for 325 yards.

The Randolph, New Jersey native threw a trio of touchdowns for third time in his career. He found Paris Cotton from six yards out, Cameron Marshall for a 16-yard major and Nick Moore for the game winning score with an 18-yard strike.

Willy played collegiately at the University of Buffalo where he still holds career records in passing yards (8,748), completions (849) and completion percentage (64.2 percent).
