Shaw CFL Top Performers of Week 12

Reilly, Johnson, and Bowman named Shaw CFL Top Performers

TORONTO – Mike Reilly, Jeremiah Johnson and Adarius Bowman were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 12 of the CFL’s 2015 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | Mike Reilly | Edmonton Eskimos

In his second start of the season, Mike Reilly led the Edmonton Eskimos to a 27-16 victory over the Calgary Stampeders at Commonwealth Stadium, breaking Edmonton’s 12-game losing streak against their provincial rivals.

In his first start since Week 1, the Kennewick, Washington native threw for 352 yards on 22 completions and connected for a trio of touchdowns.

Late in the first quarter, Reilly found an open Adarius Bowman in the back of the end zone to extend Edmonton’s lead to 9-0. Early in the second half, Reilly found Kenny Stafford behind the secondary and connected with him for a 47-yard major. Reilly capped off the scoring in the game with a 50-yard strike to Bowman.

The product of Central Washington University was able to distribute the ball to seven different receivers in the game and put Edmonton within one game of the West division lead.

RB | Jeremiah Johnson | Ottawa REDBLACKS

Ottawa REDBLACKS running back Jeremiah Johnson had his third consecutive multiple-touchdown game on Sunday night against the BC Lions, helping Ottawa to their first win in BC since 1990.

Johnson collected a pair of touchdowns to help Ottawa reach their 31-18 win. He ran for 100 yards in 17 rushes, adding 41 receiving yards on five catches.

The Los Angeles, California native helped Ottawa off to a strong start in the game, running for first downs and showing strong chemistry with quarterback Henry Burris with multiple short runs to continue a balance attack offensively.

The University of Oregon alum netted his first touchdown of the game in the third quarter, pushing over the line to put Ottawa ahead 24-18. His second touchdown came in the final 10 minutes of the game off a 12-yard run and solidified Ottawa’s lead.

While at Oregon, Johnson ran for over 100 yards on six separate occasions and maintains a record for eighth in all-time career rushing with 2336 yards.

SB | Adarius Bowman | Edmonton Eskimos

With Mike Reilly back, the 2014 CFL receiving leader quickly reacquainted their chemistry and helped the Edmonton Eskimos snap a 12-game losing streak to Calgary in the process on Saturday night at a soggy Commonwealth stadium.

Bowman recorded 104 yards including a pair of touchdowns on six receptions in the game.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee native hauled in a 14-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and a 50-yard major in the fourth. With the pair of touchdowns, Bowman now has five on the season.

This season, Bowman is second in the league in receiving yards (716) and in receptions (52). He currently leads the league in targets with 100.
