SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS OF WEEK 3

TORONTO – Travis Lulay, S.J. Green and Weston Dressler were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 3 of the CFL’s 2015 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges including former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | Travis Lulay | BC Lions

In his first home start since September 2013, Travis Lulay completed 34-of-44 passes (77 percent) and passed for 404 yards and three touchdowns in the thrilling BC Lions overtime victory 35-32 over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

This marked the second time in Lulay’s career he has thrown for over 400 yards and the first time he has done so since 2010.

All three of Lulay’s touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter and in overtime. He threw touchdown passes to Rolly Lumbala from seven-yards out, Austin Collie with two minutes remaining and the game winning touchdown to Emmanuel Arceneaux in overtime.

The former Montana State Bobcat and native of Salem, Oregon has passed for 658 yards while completing 68.4 percent of attempts so far this season and has thrown four touchdown passes with only one interception.

Lulay becomes the first BC Lion to be a recipient of the Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Week this season.

SB | S.J. Green | Montreal Aloeuttes

Montreal Alouettes receiver S.J. Green notched a new career-high in receiving yards in a single game with 180 yards in the Alouettes’ 25-23 road defeat against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Green hauled in six receptions in the game including five that were 20 or more yards and three that were 35 yards or more.

The former South Florida Bull leads the Canadian Football League with 285 yards on 15 receptions (19.0 yards per reception) through three weeks into the season.

The Tampa, Florida native, hauled in his largest reception on the year in the second quarter where Rakeem Cato found S.J. Green for a 51-yard gain on to the Blue Bombers’ two-yard line. In the end it resulted in a Tyrell Sutton touchdown to cut the Blue Bombers’ lead to three (12-9).

This marks consecutive weeks that a Montreal Alouette player has been named a Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Week, Rakeem Cato was named top performer last week.

WR | Weston Dressler | Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Weston Dressler caught nine receptions for 122 yards including a pair of touchdowns in the Roughriders’ 35-32 overtime road loss to the BC Lions.

Receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches were all season highs for the eight-year CFL veteran.

On the Roughriders’ second drive of the game, Kevin Glenn found a wide-open Dressler for a 45-yard major to open the scoring in the game.

In the third quarter, Dressler caught a ten-yard touchdown reception and followed it up with a two-point conversion to give the Roughriders a 15-9 lead in the third quarter.

The Bismarck, North Dakota native holds several school records at the University of North Dakota including touchdown receptions, receptions and all-purpose yards – to name a few.

Dressler currently sits sixth on the CFL receiving yards list with 204 yards and is tied for first with two touchdown receptions in 2015.

This marks back-to-back weeks that a Saskatchewan receiver was named a Shaw CFL Top Performer after Dressler’s teammate Ryan Smith was named a Top Performer in Week 2.
