SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS – WEEK 13

Wilder Jr., Singleton and Spencer named Shaw CFL Top Performers

TORONTO (September 19th, 2017) – James Wilder Jr., Alex Singleton and Diontae Spencer were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 13 of the CFL’s 2017 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

RB | JAMES WILDER JR. |TORONTO ARGONAUTS

Toronto Argonauts running back James Wilder Jr. scored his first CFL touchdown and recorded new career bests in rushing and receiving in the Argonauts’ 34-26 victory against the Edmonton Eskimos at BMO Field on Saturday.

Wilder Jr. carried the ball eleven times for 190 yards and a touchdown including a 76-yard touchdown (the longest carry of his 2017 season) to give the Argonauts a 20-14 lead in the second quarter. Wilder Jr. also added seven receptions for 67 yards.

His 190 rushing yards against Edmonton was the fourth-highest single-game total in Argonauts franchise history.

The Florida State product has rushed for 362 yards this season and has added 159 receiving yards. This is the sixth time an Argonaut has been named a Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Week this season.

LB | ALEX SINGLETON | CALGARY STAMPEDERS

Calgary Stampeders linebacker Alex Singleton recorded a game-high eleven tackles in the team’s 16th consecutive victory at McMahon Stadium.

Singleton recorded his third sack of the season after bringing down Jonathon Jennings for a 12-yard loss in the second quarter. Singleton added two quarterback pressures in the contest.

The Montana State product has now recorded 10+ tackles four times this season and has notched 11+ tackles in three consecutive games, becoming the first CFL player in history to record 10 or more tackles in three games in a row.

Singleton has recorded 91 tackles in his sophomore season, which ties him for the season lead with BC’s Solomon Elimimian.

This is the second time Singleton has been named a Shaw CFL Top Performer with his first recognition coming in Week 11.

REC | DIONTAE SPENCER | OTTAWA REDBLACKS

Ottawa REDBLACKS receiver and return man Diontae Spencer accumulated 222 all-purpose yards including a 113-yard missed field goal return touchdown in Ottawa’s 29-11 win over the Montreal Alouettes.

On the offensive side of the ball, Spencer had a game-high six receptions and 52 yards.
