TORONTO – Macho Harris, Marquay McDaniel, and Derel Walker were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 14 of the CFL’s 2015 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Macho Harris | DB | Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Macho Harris had a career game where he recorded a trio of interceptions and returned one of them for a touchdown in the Riders’ 33-21 victory over the Montreal Alouettes.

On the first volley of the game, Montreal strung together a few first downs until Harris caught a deflected pass and returned it 26 yards into Alouettes territory. On the very next play, Kevin Glenn found Rob Bagg for the 38-yard score that help stir the home crowd in Regina.

Before the end of the opening half, Harris jumped a route on Nik Lewis to intercept the pass and ran it back to the Alouettes’ 10-yard line, leading to a field goal to give the Riders a 15-1 lead.

The Highland Springs, Virginia native notched his third interception in the game after picking off a Rakeem Cato pass and returning it 50 yards into the end zone, giving the Riders a 21-2 advantage.

Harris accumulated 91 return yards on his three interceptions versus Montreal.

The former Virginia Tech Hokie holds the record at the school for most touchdowns on interception returns with four.

This season, Harris leads the Roughriders in interceptions (3), sits third in tackles (42) and third in sacks (3).

Marquay McDaniel | SB | Calgary Stampeders

Marquay McDaniel’s 159 receiving yards helped the Calgary Stampeders to a 25-23 win over Winnipeg on Friday night to secure their hold atop the West Division standings.

McDaniel demonstrated great chemistry with Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, getting the game off to a strong start with a 30-yard reception followed by 7-yard and 28-yard catches that led to Lemar Durant’s first CFL touchdown to tie the game.

His second set of runs at the opening of the second quarter put the Stamps close enough for a field goal. The Virginia Beach, Virginia native made double-digit receptions through all four quarters of the game, including during Winnipeg’s last-minute surge.

The former Hampton Pirate is currently third overall in receiving yards for the 2015 season with 815.

 

Derel Walker | WR | Edmonton Eskimos

Derel Walker continued his incredible first season in the CFL with a comeback game against the BC Lions Saturday afternoon, netting 121 receiving yards, a defensive tackle, and the game-winning touchdown.

Walker opened the game with a 43-yard reception from quarterback Mike Rielly, followed by a 5-yard catch. He returned in the third quarter with a tackle, two receptions, and a 1-yard catch for the 2-point conversion to bring Edmonton back into the game against the faltering Lions.

The native of Hillsboro, Texas secured the game winner with a 21-yard catch for a touchdown in the final three minutes of the game.

The product of Texas A&M is currently ninth overall in receiving yards on the season, despite playing only 7 games.

This is Walker’s second accolade of 2015; he was a Shaw CFL Top Performer for the month of August.
