SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS – WEEK 15

SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS – WEEK 15

Williams, Posey and Randle named Shaw CFL Top Performers

TORONTO (October 3rd, 2017) – Terry Williams, DeVier Posey and Chris Randle were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 15 of the CFL’s 2017 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

RB | TERRY WILLIAMS |CALGARY STAMPEDERS

In his first CFL start, Terry Williams collected a touchdown hat trick to help the Stampeders to their tenth straight victory.

Replacing Jerome Messam at running back, Williams had an impressive first game, racking up 156 yards on 16 carries. He strung together several carries in a 13-play drive that culminated in a one-yard dive over the line for his first CFL touchdown to give Calgary a first-quarter lead they didn’t look back from.

Williams was instrumental in the second quarter, putting in three runs in a row to put the Stamps in a position for an Anthony Parker touchdown catch. Later in the quarter, Williams collected his second touchdown, extending after a two-yard run for the score.

The Morristown, NJ native scored his third and final major in the third quarter, breaking free for a 45-yard touchdown.

Williams added a reception for 14 yards.

REC | DEVIER POSEY | TORONTO ARGONAUTS

Wide receiver DeVier Posey helped Toronto to their first win at Tim Hortons Field on Saturday with seven catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

The Ohio State alum had an outstanding fourth quarter, catching a 31-yard pass in a crucial last-minute drive before catching a 25-yard toss for a touchdown to tie the game after James Wilder Jr.’s two-point convert.

Posey secured the game-winning touchdown in overtime, a 13-yard pass from quarterback Ricky Ray that gave the Argos their 43-35 win.

Posey is continuing a strong sophomore season in the CFL, with 514 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 39 receptions in 2017.

DB | CHRIS RANDLE | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

Defensive back Chris Randle helped Winnipeg to a key 28-19 divisional win over Edmonton on Saturday with five defensive tackles and a interception return touchdown.

The Berkeley, CA native had several key stops, tackling Travon Van, Derel Walker, Brandon Zylstra and Pascal Lochard at key moments to stop drives and keep the first few frames of the game a low-scoring affair.

Randle’s touchdown came in the fourth quarter, an interception on a Mike Reilly pass that he returned for 37 yards to cement Winnipeg’s win. On Edmonton’s next drive, Randle knocked down a Reilly pass intended for Walker to force a turnover on downs with under two minutes left on the clock.

Randle is having a career year: he has a team-leading five interceptions, and 41 defensive tackles including one sack in 2017. He is the twelfth Blue Bomber to receive a Shaw Top Performer nod this season.
