SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS – WEEK 19
Posey, Collaros and Harris named Shaw CFL Top Performers
TORONTO (October 23rd, 2018) – DeVier Posey, Zach Collaros and Trevor Harris were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 19 of the CFL’s 2018 season.
The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
WR | DEVIER POSEY | BC LIONS
Receiver DeVier Posey gave the BC Lions a huge offensive effort in their win over Edmonton on Friday night.
Posey had three touchdowns, including his first in orange and black, all in the third quarter. He racked up 113 receiving yards on just five receptions.
The native of Redwood City, California got his first major of the game on a four-yard pass from Travis Lulay and a quick run into the end zone, giving the Lions the lead.
On BC’s very next drive, Posey made a 65-yard catch, running all the way for another touchdown. Posey completed the hat trick with a big 32-yard catch, giving the Leos three touchdowns in as many drives.
In his third year in the CFL, Posey has 203 receiving yards on 22 receptions in six games.
QB | ZACH COLLAROS | SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS
Quarterback Zach Collaros kept the Roughriders in the hunt for the West Division title with a close 29-24 victory over the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.
Collaros went 24-for-35, registering 352 passing yards in the contest at McMahon.
In the first quarter, Collaros orchestrated a four-play drive that culminated in a Tre Mason rushing touchdown.
Over the course of the game, Collaros maneuvered kicker Brett Lauther into position for five successful field goals and two convert kicks. He also pulled off an 11-play fourth-quarter drive that ended in a major for teammate Nick Marshall.
Collaros was also a Shaw CFL Top Performer in Week 16. He has 2,947 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games.
QB | TREVOR HARRIS | OTTAWA REDBLACKS
Quarterback Trevor Harris steered the Ottawa REDBLACKS to a big divisional win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday at TD Place, emerging with a 35-31 victory.
Harris collected 341 passing yards, going 24-for-32 and throwing for a touchdown.
He put kicker Lewis Ward into position for two field goals in the first half, but Harris broke out the offense in the second half of the game.
After teammate Dominique Davis got his second QB sneak touchdown of the evening in the opening minutes of the third quarter, Harris threw a successful two-point convert to Davis to keep Ottawa in the game.
On a five-play drive later in the third frame, Harris threw a 10-yard pass to Diontae Spencer for a touchdown to give the REDBLACKS the lead after the successful convert. And in the fourth quarter, Harris completed four of six passes on a drive to help his teammate Davis score his third touchdown of the evening.
Harris was previously named a Shaw CFL Top Performer in Weeks 6 and 9. He has 4,849 passing yards this season, just 151 yards away from becoming the third Ottawa quarterback to throw for 5,000+ in a single season. He has 19 passing touchdowns on 408 completions.
