SHAW CFL TOP PERFORMERS – WEEK 4

Bighill, Sinopoli, and Wilder named Shaw CFL Top Performers

TORONTO (July 10th, 2018) – Adam Bighill, Brad Sinopoli and James Wilder Jr. were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 4 of the CFL’s 2018 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

LB | ADAM BIGHILL | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

Newly-minted Winnipeg Blue Bomber Adam Bighill had a huge impact in Saturday’s game against his former team the BC Lions.

Bighill registered six total tackles in the contest in addition to two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

In the first quarter, Bighill knocked down a Jonathon Jennings pass to regain possession for Winnipeg, intercepting the ball and returning it 14 yards.

In his fourth game in the blue and gold, Bighill made important stops on defence to stall BC drives. In the fourth quarter, he made an even more crucial stop, reeling in an attempted Jennings pass and returning the ball for a 55-yard touchdown - his second career touchdown. Bighill now has 10 interceptions in his career.

A seven-year CFL veteran, Bighill spent his six previous CFL seasons with the BC Lions. After four games played in 2018 he sits second in defensive tackles with 27. A four-time CFL All-Star, he was the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2015.

WR | BRAD SINOPOLI | OTTAWA REDBLACKS

Canadian receiver Brad Sinopoli helped Ottawa to their second win of the season in a 28-18 victory over divisional rivals the Montreal Alouettes.

Sinopoli recorded 148 receiving yards and one touchdown on a career-high 11 catches in Friday’s game at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. It was his eighth career game collecting over 100 yards.

In the second quarter, Sinopoli made a 25-yard catch off a throw from quarterback Trevor Harris, running it another 12 yards for a touchdown to extend the REDBLACKS’ lead to 17-8 after a successful convert.

The former Hec Crighton winner for the uOttawa Gee-Gees has 262 yards on 21 receptions in three games. The 2015 Most Outstanding Canadian has recorded over 1000 yards in each of the last three seasons.

RB | JAMES WILDER JR. | TORONTO ARGONAUTS

Running back James Wilder Jr. helped Toronto to their first win of the season with a standout game and a touchdown against Edmonton on Saturday.

Wilder amassed 120 rushing yards and 27 receiving yards on 21 carries and three catches, respectively.

Wilder carried the load, rushing or catching on six plays of Toronto’s nine-play opening drive, putting quarterback James Franklin in a position to call his own number.

Capitalizing on an Edmonton fumble early in the game, Wilder completed a five-yard run for a major, putting the Argos ahead 12-0 just a few minutes into the first quarter.

As the game continued, Wilder connected with Franklin again, teaming up to move deep into Edmonton territory and manoeuvre teammate Declan Cross into position for a five-yard touchdown pass to pull Toronto into the lead once more.

The 2017 Most Outstanding Rookie has 196 rushing yards, 125 receiving yards and one touchdown in three games played this year.
