TAYLOR AND GARNES FINED FOR ACTIONS IN WEEK 16; TWO ADDITIONAL WEEK 15 FINES LEVIED
Department of Health, Safety and Integrity issues player discipline
TORONTO (September 26, 2026) – The Canadian Football League (CFL) Department of Health, Safety and Integrity manages league discipline, while the Office of the Commissioner oversees suspendible offences.
The Department – which includes Chief Football Operations Officer Greg Dick, Vice-President of Officiating Darren Hackwood, Vice-President of Football Operations and Player Safety Eric Noivo and Associate Vice-President of Football Operations Ryan Janzen – has issued two fines from Week 16.
- Edmonton defensive lineman Noah Taylor has been fined for delivering a low hit on Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly.
- Edmonton defensive back Chelen Garnes has been fined for striking Toronto receiver Kevin Mital.
Upon further review, two additional fines have been issued from Week 15.
- BC defensive lineman Mathieu Betts has been fined for two separate actions:
- Committing unnecessary roughness on Montreal quarterback Davis Alexander.
- Striking Montreal offensive lineman Cyrille Hogan-Saindon.
Per CFL policy, the league does not announce:
- Amounts of player fines
- Discipline related to dress code violations
- Discipline involving teams or staff
- Discipline involving players who have been released
