“We’re so excited for the CFL NFL Flag Championship during Grey Cup Week,” said Christina Litz, Chief Marketing, Digital and Strategy Office, CFL. “Working with the NFL and local amateur football organizations to support the growth of our game is so important – not to mention fun. The talent and excitement of our youth will be on full display in Edmonton.”

“The NFL is pleased to once again partner with the CFL, for this year’s CFL NFL Flag Football Championship.  We’ve had a great season of friendly competition across Canada so far and are really excited to see the qualifying teams showcase their skills and love of the game during Grey Cup Week in Edmonton”, said David Thomson, Vice President and Managing Director, NFL Canada.  “Football is a complete team game, that brings players and fans together, unlike any other. We are proud to continue to support the development of youth football in Canada.”

Last year’s inaugural tournament saw the Junior Riders of Saskatchewan put together an overall record of 11-0-1 between regionals and the championship. They outscored opponents 266-47, including a 20-7 win over the Surrey Tigers of BC during Grey Cup week. The win earned them a trip to Pro Bowl Week in Orlando, where they went 2-2, beating two teams from China and falling to Mexico and the United States.
