THE VOICES BEHIND TSN’S THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL OPENING ‘THE REKLAWS’ TO HEADLINE SIRIUSXM KICKOFF SHOW AT GREY CUP

Country duo surprised on air at TSN studio with invitation to perform the SiriusXM Kickoff Show at Canada’s largest single-day sporting event in Edmonton on November 25

TORONTO (June 28, 2018) -- The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today that Canadian country duo ‘The Reklaws’ will perform at the SiriusXM Kickoff Show at the 106th Grey Cup presented by Shaw on November 25th in Edmonton. The announcement was made during the CFL on TSN with ‘The Reklaws’ in studio for the Thursday Night Football Presented by the Brick pre-game show.

Born and raised on their family farm in Cambridge, Ontario, siblings Jenna and Stuart Walker first made waves in the Canadian country music scene by winning the biggest country music talent competition in Canada, the SiriusXM Emerging Artist Showcase at Boots and Hearts in 2013. They have since played all over Canada opening for the likes of Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Thomas Rhett, and High Valley.

“This has been a whirlwind year for us and we couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities we’ve been given with the Canadian Football League and TSN,” said Jenna Walker, vocalist, The Reklaws. “Not in our wildest dreams did we ever think we would be part of such an iconic moment like the Grey Cup, and we can’t wait to perform for all the fans.”

On May 28 ‘The Reklaws’ were announced as a featured part of Thursday Night Football throughout the summer. ‘The Reklaws’ cut a new football themed version of their latest hit, “Long Live the Night” which opens each Thursday Night Football presented by The Brick game on CFL on TSN. The song is an integral part of the broadcast and is set to become the CFL’s song of the summer.

“We always look forward to the Grey Cup and bringing the most exciting new Canadian artists to the game through the Kickoff Show,” said Paul Cunningham, SVP, Sales & Marketing, SiriusXM Canada. “The Reklaws are one of our country’s next big acts and we can’t wait to see them on a national stage.”

“Having ‘The Reklaws’ open the festivities before the league’s biggest game with their high-tempo, fun and fresh spin on country music is exactly what we were looking for,” said the CFL’s Christina Litz, Chief Marketing, Digital and Strategy Officer. “The group has been embraced by the CFL fans coast-to-coast with their Thursday Night Football anthem and will get the fans rocking before SiriusXM Grey Cup Kickoff in Edmonton.”

The 106th Grey Cup will be played at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium on November 25th, 2018 – the fifth CFL championship game in Edmonton. The game is set to kick off at 6:00 p.m. ET live on TSN and RDS. Fewer than 3,000 tickets are available for the 106th Grey Cup; to purchase tickets click here.
