TACKLING MACHINES

  • Through 18 weeks the CFL has two players with 100+ tackles. BC Lions linebacker Adam Bighill was first to record the feat and leads the league with 108 with an additional SEVEN special team tackles
  • Bighill’s accomplishment marked the 33rd time a CFL player has recorded 100+ tackles in a single season
  • 18 players have accomplished this feat
  • This is the THIRD time in Bighill’s five-year CFL career he notched over 100 total tackles in a season. He first did it in 2012 and in 2013
  • First-year player Jeff Knox Jr. on the Saskatchewan Roughriders has notched 101 tackles to join Bighill in the century club
  • This season there could be FIVE players with 100 or more tackles
  • The previous mark for most players in a single season to record 100 or more tackles was three in 2010 when Barrin Simpson, Jamall Johnson and Kevin Eiben did so
  • The other three players that are in striking distance this season are Winston Venable (97), Khalil Bass (93) and Gregory Jones (88)

5,000 YARDS

  • Last week Henry Burris not only eclipsed the 60,000 career passing mark, he also notched 5,000 passing yards in one season for the third-time in his career
  • This is the 35th time in CFL history that a QB has surpassed the 5,000 yard mark and Burris is one of just 16 different players to have reached that plateau
  • Burris is just 219 yards short of tying his career-high passing yards with two games left to play
  • There are FOUR active QBs in the league that have hit the 5,000 yard mark: Henry Burris (2015, 2012 and 2008), Ricky Ray (2008, 2006 and 2005), Kevin Glenn (2010 and 2007) and Darian Durant (2010)
  • Bo Levi Mitchell needs to average 348 passing yards in the final two games to reach 5,000 this season

1,000 YARDS

  • Joining Eric Rogers, Adarius Bowman, Chris Williams, Emmanuel Arceneaux and Marquay McDaniel with 1,000 receiving yards this season are SJ Green and Canadian Brad Sinopoli
  • Sinopoli becomes the second REDBLACKS receiver to reach the milestone, following Chris Williams. This is Sinopoli’s career-high in receiving yards (1,008) and receptions (83) with two games remaining. Teammate Ernest Jackson is now just 65 yards short of 1,000 and Greg Ellingson needs only 106 yards
  • The Ottawa franchise has never had more than TWO 1,000 yard receivers in a single-season
  • There are FOUR more receivers that are less than 100 yards short of the mark including: Edmonton’s Derel Walker (983), Hamilton’s Terrell Sinkfield Jr. (967) and Luke Tasker (951) and Ottawa’s Ernest Jackson (935)
  • On the ground attack, Winnipeg native Andrew Harris is only 13 yards short for his second-career 1,000 yard rushing season

Over his last two games, Bowman has had 406 yards on 23 catches, the most over a two-game span by any player since Arland Bruce III in 2010.
