THREE PROSPECTS FROM WESTERN REGIONAL COMBINE INVITED TO CFL COMBINE PRESENTED BY ADIDAS

BUREN, GREEN, WATSON EARN SPOTS AT CFL SCOUTING COMBINE

Thursday, March 22, 2018 — WINNIPEG – The Canadian Football League (CFL) held the last of its three regional combines today in Winnipeg. Three players were extended an invitation to the CFL Combine presented by adidas in Winnipeg from March 24-25.

Justin Buren, Tanner Green and Will Watson were invited to display their athletic abilities once again in front of CFL scouts, coaches, and management at the CFL Combine. With today’s three additions, the roster for the CFL Combine presented by adidas has increased to 52 prospects.

Receiver Will Watson had the fastest time of the day, registering 4.71 seconds in the 40-yard dash. The UBC product also topped the charts in the three-cone drill at 7.06 seconds, and came fourth overall in shuttle with 4.34. He finished fourth among receivers in the vertical jump with 33 inches and seventh overall in the broad at 9”10.25.

Simon Fraser product Justin Buren earned a nod with the top bench result from a wide receiver at 15 reps of 225 lbs. He had the second-fastest overall result in the 40-yard dash at 4.73 seconds, replicating that speed in the shuttle with 4.35 for sixth overall. The receiver finished second of the day in the vertical jump, registering 36.5 inches.

Tanner Green showed off his strength in a tie for third overall in the bench press with 19 reps of 225 lbs. The running back notched 33.5 inches in the vertical jump for sixth overall, and 7.31 seconds for seventh overall in the three-cone.

Overall, 39 players attended today’s Western Regional Combine in Winnipeg and each athlete worked out in front of scouts from all CFL Teams. Click here to view the roster and all the results from the Western Regional Combine.

Last year’s Western Regional Combine saw Mitchell Hillis, Adam Laurensse, Julan Lynch, Ante Milanovic-Litre and Alex Morrison invited to the CFL Combine. Lynch was chosen 17th overall by Calgary, Milanovic-Litre went 28th overall to Calgary, Morrison was picked 29th overall by Montreal, Laurensse was drafted 61st overall by Calgary, and Hillis was drafted 69th overall to BC in the 2017 CFL Draft.
